DJ Sithelo, the Durban-born entertainer and social media personality, has confirmed she will not return to performing behind the decks, making her four-year break from the music industry permanent.
The artist, whose full name is Sithelo Shozi, rose to prominence in South Africa’s club circuit and later expanded her presence into television and lifestyle media. Her track “Forever” featuring Skye Wanda became a notable release during her active years as a DJ and music creator.
From the Decks to Television
Shozi’s career gradually shifted from nightlife performances to mainstream broadcasting. She currently serves as a detective panelist on SABC2‘s The Masked Singer SA, a role that has introduced her to a broader audience beyond the music scene.
In 2022, she attracted public attention after travelling to Turkey for cosmetic procedures, including liposuction and a Brazilian butt lift. Those personal choices, along with her growing social media following, helped reshape her public identity toward lifestyle and entertainment rather than DJing.
A Clear Decision
In April 2026, Shozi announced her engagement to businessman Kudzaishe James Magura, marking another personal milestone. Shortly after, she confirmed that her music career had effectively ended years earlier and would not be revived.
She stated that her focus has shifted entirely to her family life and television work. Shozi described her current situation as stable and fulfilling, crediting the discipline and exposure from her early entertainment years for laying the groundwork for her present path.
Returning to ‘The Masked Singer SA’
Shozi will continue her role as a panelist when The Masked Singer SA returns to SABC2 on 4 July. The upcoming season will feature a mix of personalities from entertainment, politics, and sport performing in elaborate disguises.
