ElevenLabs has joined Digital Data Exchange (DDEX) as a full member, becoming the first artificial intelligence (AI) company to do so. The membership gives ElevenLabs a role in developing standards for exchanging data across the music industry.

DDEX is a nonprofit international standards organization with more than 150 members worldwide. Its membership includes music and technology companies, as well as a growing number of AI content attribution companies.

Mark Isherwood, DDEX Secretariat, said ElevenLabs would bring AI expertise to the organization and gain insight into the operational needs of the music value chain. Gabriella Heybourne, Music Strategy & Operations at ElevenLabs, said the company plans to participate in DDEX plenaries and working groups, including work on how music information is communicated in relation to AI.

DDEX membership is open to organizations with a business interest in digital media content. Companies can implement DDEX standards without joining, while members can participate in developing those standards.
