Spotify released Runtown’s Surround Sound concert film on November 4, turning a Lagos performance recorded in September into a full-length video on its platform. The official listing is titled [Runtown] Surround Sound – Live in Lagos; Okay News independently checked the listing and reported a running time of 38 minutes and 32 seconds.
For Nigeria’s music business, the release shows how a streaming service can use a live production to bring attention back to an established catalogue. A performance that reached an invited room in Lagos is now a video product available beyond that room. That is a promotional route for older recordings, though the film’s effect on listening or revenue cannot be known from its launch alone.
A concert built around the catalogue
The film was directed by Tim Horwood and recorded with fans surrounding the stage in Lagos, according to TurnTable Charts’ November 5 account and Okay News’ November 4 report. Okay News says the programme contains 15 songs. Its account describes four chapters, with “Lagos to Kampala”, “Kini Issue”, “Gallardo”, “Dangerous Heart” and “Painkiller” among the selections. “Mad Over You” arrives in the final chapter, followed by “Unleash” and the closing “Energy”.
That order matters to the release strategy. Rather than open with the best-known record, the film moves through a wider set of songs before reaching it. The arrangement gives viewers a reason to encounter catalogue tracks that may be less familiar. Whether those encounters produce sustained listening is a separate question for Spotify and Runtown’s team to measure after release.
Spotify recorded Runtown’s performance at Livespot in Lagos on September 26, according to Pulse Nigeria’s report from the event and Okay News’ later account. Pulse reported that selected Premium listeners were invited based on their listening behaviour, with no public ticket sale. That makes this a platform-produced audience event as well as a concert film; it should not be treated as evidence of public ticket demand.
Why “Mad Over You” remains central
Spotify’s figures supplied to TurnTable Charts and Okay News were measured on September 15, 2026. At that date, Spotify said “Mad Over You” had 140.7 million lifetime streams and 36.6 million streams during 2026 to that point, compared with 33.4 million during all of 2025. Those are Spotify’s September figures, not a count taken when the film went live in November.
The comparison helps explain the programming choice: the company is pairing a new video release with a recording that was already drawing substantial listening years after release. It does not establish that the film caused a streaming increase, because the figures predate the premiere. For artists and managers assessing a similar production, the useful follow-up will be whether viewers move from the film to the tracks and return to them after the launch period.
The full Runtown film is listed on Spotify. The listing establishes that the video is available; a later chart or platform data update would be needed to judge its effect on the catalogue.
