Former SoundOn A&R Head Josh Mateer Launches Actual Records

Former SoundOn A&R head Josh Mateer has launched Actual Records, a new independent label headquartered in London with a presence in Los Angeles and Berlin.

The label will focus on identifying and developing artists with global commercial potential. Its first signing is British dance act Off Licence, whose debut single “Bones” (featuring vocalist plus44) has accumulated close to 1 million streams in its first few weeks.

Mateer brings over a decade of major-label experience to the venture. He spent four years at TikTok, where he established and led the A&R strategy for SoundOn across the EMEA region. During that period, he contributed to the development of artists including:
