South African rapper and DJ Gigi Lamayne has joined forces with Mgaribe to release a deep house remix of the enduring classic ‘Imnandi Lento’.
The rework preserves the original’s cultural significance while introducing deep house production, aiming to connect the track with contemporary dance audiences. Lamayne, a Johannesburg-based artist, has built a career spanning hip hop, Afro house, and other electronic styles, and has performed at major events while gaining international media attention.
She has collaborated with artists including Yemi Alade, Wizkid, and Blxckie, and previously made history as the first African female hip hop artist to headline a solo concert with more than 5,000 attendees at the Gigi Gang Show. Mgaribe’s connection to the original song provides continuity between its legacy and the new version.
