South African rapper K.O, marking his 20th year in music, has teamed up with Afro-pop singer Danya Devs and amapiano artist Scotts Maphuma for a new single, Hotela, set for release on 12 June.

The track blends hip hop, Afro-pop, and amapiano, drawing together three distinct corners of the country’s contemporary sound. Its lyrics centre on ambition, success, and the pursuit of a higher standard of living, inspired by modern lifestyle trends visible across social media.

A recurring line, “Akasa lali endlini, seka lale maHotela”, translates as “She no longer sleeps at home; now she sleeps in hotels”, framing a narrative of social and economic mobility.

For Scotts Maphuma, the single marks a stylistic departure: the amapiano hitmaker, known for tracks such as ‘Gone Kanje’, delivers a rap-inflected performance on Hotela.

The collaboration also arrives as Danya Devs continues to carve out a solo path following his exit from the duo Blaq Diamond.

K.O, meanwhile, is celebrating two decades in the industry. The rapper’s catalogue spans multiple commercially successful and award-winning releases.

Hotela will be available on major digital streaming platforms from 12 June.
