BlownBoy Entertainment, the record label of Nigerian singer Ruger, has issued a statement explaining why the artist has not released new music recently.
The label said Ruger has been dealing with personal and legal challenges involving a former partner. According to the statement, an ex-girlfriend has filed a lawsuit seeking damages for alleged emotional distress.
“Personal challenges after someone he dated decided to sue him for alleged emotional distress and damages…” the label said in the statement.
BlownBoy Entertainment noted that the ongoing dispute has affected the singer’s activities in recent months, addressing fan questions about his silence. No further details about the case were provided.
Ruger, who launched BlownBoy Entertainment after departing Jonzing World, is known for songs including Asiwaju, Bounce, and Girlfriend. Neither the singer nor his management has publicly commented further on the lawsuit or indicated when new music will be released.
