Nigerian singer-songwriter Llona has released his second album, On The Road, a project conceived and recorded during a 25-city bus tour across the country, arriving shortly after a prominent feature on Davido’s latest record.

Album Creation and Concept

Rather than returning to the studio after his debut, Llona embarked on a nationwide tour, writing and recording much of the album while traveling by bus. The songs were shaped by the people he met, the places he visited, and the experiences gathered along the way.

Llona described the project as a personal portrait of Nigeria, reflecting his journey and the connections he made. He said:

This tour meant so much to me to connect with people across the country and share music together. I hope this album reflects all I learned on the road and my innermost thoughts that others might relate to.

Davido Endorsement

The release follows Llona’s appearance on Davido‘s album Oriadé, on the track “My Light.” Davido praised the emerging artist, stating:

The outro of this album features an artist called Llona. He’s huge in Africa, huge in Nigeria, but a lot of people overseas don’t know him yet. He’s amazing. He’s an artist I feel should be number one in America. He’s that good.

Tracklist and Collaborations

On The Road explores themes of love, trauma, gratitude, and self-discovery. The album features three guest artists:

  • Fridayy, the four-time Grammy-nominated Haitian-American artist
  • Black Sherif, the acclaimed Ghanaian singer and rapper
  • Morravey, the Nigerian singer-songwriter

Standout tracks include:

  • “Look at Me,” a reflection on vulnerability and trust
  • “Monster or Not,” which addresses the lasting impact of childhood trauma
  • “Masculine Love,” a rejection of toxic masculinity in favor of healthy partnership
  • “True Colors,” a meditation on betrayal
  • “What Do I Do,” a song celebrating success while remaining grounded

Background and Streaming Milestones

Llona, who is from Kogi State, has viewed music as a tool for healing and unity since the age of nine. His debut album Homeless (2024) received widespread critical acclaim from music journalists and cultural publications. During the album’s campaign, he hosted free therapy sessions for fans.

He has built a fanbase and amassed more than 250 million streams across platforms.
