MAIA Universe has signed licensing partnerships with BMG, Kobalt Music, Warner Music Group and Cooking Vinyl. The company says the additions take its network to more than 200 labels and 90 publishing partners.

The Stockholm- and London-based music synchronisation licensing platform said the new agreements cover the following rights:

  • BMG: publishing and recordings.
  • Kobalt Music: publishing.
  • Warner Music Group: recordings.
  • Cooking Vinyl: recordings.

The agreements extend a partner network that already includes Warner Chappell and Sony Music Publishing.

The Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) has also appointed MAIA Universe as part of its enhanced operating model.

A pilot programme is scheduled to begin in early 2027, followed by a wider rollout to MCPS members later that year.

Separately, MAIA Universe said it had secured strategic investment from ABBA co-founder Björn Ulvaeus and MxM, the Swedish songwriting and production company founded by Max Martin.

The RMV team, led by Ludvig Andersson, producer of ABBA Voyage, has also invested.

MAIA Universe CEO David Wille said the developments reflected increasing demand for sync licensing and aimed to speed up and simplify the process for songwriters and artists.
