MILEY has announced two nights at the Hollywood Bowl and framed them as an alternative to a full tour, after roughly 1.5 million people attempted to enter a presale for 35,000 seats.

Key details announced:

  • Two nights at the Hollywood Bowl
  • Roughly 1.5 million presale attempts for 35,000 seats
  • Shows called an "ultimate dress rehearsal" for a possible residency

She said people will come to her, and the campaign is built around her openness about not wanting to tour the way the industry expects. She has made public a part of her career that most artists manage quietly.

She has described the Hollywood Bowl as her favorite place to see live music and said she has sat in the audience there many times without performing. Because the venue is close to home, she joked about being in bed by 11 after the show.

Burnout and a smaller footprint

Her statements about not wanting to grind through a full touring cycle arrive as burnout has become a more openly discussed topic. Many fans have applied similar language to their own jobs in recent years, and her decision not to apologize for that stance has drawn fan support.

In the same period as the Hollywood Bowl announcement, she dropped the surname Cyrus and began performing as MILEY. Her album Bass Persuades was released September 18.

Album release and mononym

The album is built around music as something felt and shared with other people, not consumed through a screen. Its emphasis on putting the phone down and being present does not translate the same way through earbuds on a commute.

That framing opens possibilities for listening parties and dance events designed to bring fans together in person. The shift to a mononym anchored the album campaign, signaling that the artist no longer needs a full name, full rollout, or full tour circuit.

Strategic alternative to touring

For artists who cannot sustain constant travel or perform better in a controlled setting, a residency or repeated hometown show can serve as an alternative to a full tour. A smaller number of well-chosen shows can build a clearer story and a format an artist can sustain without burning out, even when it leaves revenue on the table.
