Olamide’s Burukutu Debuts at No. 9 on Nigeria Top 100

Olamide’s Burukutu enters TurnTable’s Official Nigeria Top 100 at No. 9. Radio ranks much higher than streaming in its first chart week.

Olamide’s “Burukutu” debuted at No. 9 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 for the chart week of October 23-29, according to the chart TurnTable published on November 3. It is the song’s first appearance on the combined ranking, which measures activity across Nigerian streaming and radio.

The entry matters because its chart routes are sharply different. TurnTable reports that “Burukutu” was No. 4 on its radio chart but No. 50 on its streaming chart for the same week. For a label planning an album campaign, the split shows how airplay can push a release into the national top ten even when its on-demand listening is much further down the streaming list.

Radio leads the first chart week

TurnTable’s November 3 report puts the song’s radio reach at 59.7 million and its on-demand streams at 685,000 for October 23-29. Those are different measures: radio reach estimates exposure, while the stream count measures requested plays. They should not be added together or treated as interchangeable audience totals. TurnTable says its overall Top 100 uses a weighted formula covering audio streams, video streams and radio airplay in Nigeria.

The chart page displays the No. 9 entry as new, with one week on the ranking. The underlying radio and streaming figures come from TurnTable’s own report and are attributed to it here; InterSpace Daily has not independently audited those platform inputs. On Spotify’s separate Nigeria daily chart for November 1, “Burukutu” sat at No. 87. That later daily snapshot cannot be mapped directly onto TurnTable’s earlier weekly formula, but it gives another view of the gap between the single’s radio position and one streaming platform.

A single ahead of an album

“Burukutu” was released on October 20 through Olamide’s YBNL Nation imprint, according to TheCable’s release report. Apple’s album page carries a YBNL Nation and EMPIRE copyright line for the forthcoming Time and Space project and offers “Burukutu” as the available track. That makes this chart entry an early result for an album campaign, rather than a newly released song arriving this week.

Our earlier look at the Fireboy, Phyno and Olamide album window examined how the three projects were being positioned. The new TurnTable result adds a measurable piece of that rollout: Olamide has secured broad radio exposure before the album reaches listeners. It does not yet establish whether that attention will turn into sustained streams or album consumption.

TurnTable also calls this Olamide’s 26th Top 100 top-ten entry. That career count is the chart publisher’s own tally; the immediate verifiable development is the new No. 9 ranking. The next weekly chart will show whether “Burukutu” holds its place as the campaign continues and whether its streaming rank closes the gap with radio.
