A musicista nigeriana de juju e highlife Iyun Janet Ajilore, conhecida como St Janet, morreu após uma breve doença.

Nigerian juju and highlife musician Iyun Janet Ajilore, who performed as St Janet, died on 1 August after a brief illness.

Her death was confirmed on 2 August by publisher and socialite Otunba Femi Davies in a Facebook post.

“St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), a popular Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence and socially unfiltered party tracks, is dead. She died after a brief illness on Saturday,” Davies wrote.

St Janet built a following through energetic live shows and party-oriented music, becoming a familiar presence at social gatherings and within Nigeria’s traditional popular music scene. Her work across juju and highlife earned her recognition among audiences who followed the genres.

Tributes from fans and colleagues have since been shared, remembering her contribution to Nigerian entertainment and the joy her music brought to audiences.
