Spotify hosted a fan event in Bogotá this past weekend featuring Medellín-born reggaetón artist Ryan Castro, known as El Cantante del Ghetto. The performance traced his career from local shows to international streaming success.
Setlist and Unreleased Track
Castro opened with early songs “Wasa Wasa,” “Monastery,” and “Jordan,” then moved through hits including “RITMO DE MEDALLO” and “UNA NOCHE EN MEDELLÍN (REMIX).” He also performed “EL RITMO QUE NOS UNE,” his collaboration with the Colombian national football team, Selección Colombia.
As a surprise for the audience, Castro debuted an unreleased song titled “BRINCAITO”, offering an exclusive first listen to new material.
Streaming Growth
According to data provided by Spotify, Castro’s music attracts more than 31.1 million monthly listeners worldwide and appears on over 38.6 million playlists. In Bogotá, streams of his catalog have increased by more than 1,398% since 2021.
Before achieving mainstream recognition, Castro performed on buses, in nightclubs, and at small neighborhood venues, building a dedicated local following.
Playlist Curation and Performance Video
As part of the event, Castro will curate four Spotify playlists highlighting the sounds and styles that have influenced his career. A video of the Bogotá performance is scheduled for release in July.
