Spotify Accounts Come to United Airlines Seatback Screens

Spotify is rolling out personal account streaming on United Airlines seatback displays, allowing passengers to resume music, podcasts and other content during a flight. The feature is available on Starlink-equipped aircraft and is set to reach additional planes through 2027.

Passengers pair their accounts by scanning a QR code. They can then access their personalized Home feed, saved playlists, Your Library, AI DJ, podcasts, audiobooks and music videos on the seatback screen.

Login details are not entered on the display. Accounts are logged out automatically at the end of each flight, and passengers can also log out through the seatback Spotify app at any time.

Ian Geller, Spotify’s vice president of business development, said the integration brings listeners’ recommendations and saved content to the seatback screen.

Passengers whose flights do not yet offer account pairing can use Spotify’s existing United channel. Introduced last year across United’s fleet, it provides 450 hours of curated playlists, podcasts and audiobooks for free on seatback screens.
