TikTok will close its Nashville office on Music Row, resulting in 250 layoffs, effective October 5.
The office primarily houses members of the platform’s content moderation team. Social media companies are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence to monitor content for violent or explicit material, and TikTok cut hundreds of jobs globally in 2024 for that reason.
TikTok signed the lease for the Music Row location in 2024, after previously operating from a WeWork space. Following a 2024 U.S. law requiring Chinese parent company ByteDance to divest its American operations or face a ban, TikTok’s U.S. business was restructured into TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, a joint venture led by American investors. That restructuring was completed in January 2026.
Zanna Crowley, a spokesperson for the joint venture, said the closure was intended to “streamline our operations and better align our teams for long-term growth.”
“We remain fully committed to providing secure, safe and positive experiences for the 200 million Americans that create, discover and connect with what they love on TikTok,” Crowley added.
