U2 and Guinness are marking the band’s 50th anniversary with a limited-edition vinyl release of the upcoming album Carnaval De Luz. Island Records announced the pressing alongside two limited-edition T-shirts.
The 12-track album will be pressed on pearl white marble vinyl. The edition includes a 16-page booklet of lyrics, photographs and album imagery, plus a double-sided Guinness Collectors Art print by Bono.
The T-shirts will be available from November 13, the album’s release date. Limited quantities of the vinyl will also be sold at these locations:
- November 13: Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and Guinness Open Gate Brewery in London.
- November 20: Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Chicago.
A portion of vinyl and T-shirt sales will go to the Guinness Dublin 8 Community Fund.
The partnership follows an earlier connection between the band and Guinness. In 1978, shortly after changing their name from The Hype, U2 won a Guinness-sponsored talent competition in Limerick. The prize was IR£500 and a recording session.
