Nine tools offer artists ways to create music visualizers, Spotify Canvas loops and live displays. Their free and paid options differ in format, export limits and watermark requirements.

Free audio and artwork tools

  • Music Visualizer Lab combines uploaded audio with cover artwork or another image to make full-song visualizers for YouTube. Styles include waveforms, circular spectra and particles, with horizontal and vertical formats and advertised exports up to 4K. Processing takes place in the browser, keeping the track on the device. It is free, requires no account and adds no export watermark, with an audio file limit of 50 MB. Any clip intended for Spotify Canvas still needs to meet its specifications.
  • SoundTools provides bars, waveforms, circular effects and three-dimensional styles. Users can customize colors, add a background image and export in landscape or portrait format. It is free without an account or watermark. Desktop Chrome, Firefox and Edge support the fullest range of styles and video exports; Safari has more limited export support.
  • VibeMV creates audio-reactive vertical MP4 files from a selected three-to-eight-second passage of an uploaded song, with adjustable colors. Its free Canvas maker requires no login, processes audio in the browser and produces silent video. It creates short loops rather than full-song videos.
  • Canvas for Music converts artwork into an eight-second vertical loop, using either a spinning-record treatment or a slow zoom into the image. It is free, with no account or watermark. Because it does not analyze audio, its movement does not respond to the track.

Templates and footage editing

  • Tuneform offers audio-reactive visualizers, artwork-based videos and Spotify Canvas templates, allowing artists to coordinate visuals across formats. Its free tier includes a limited number of watermark-free Canvas exports, while full-length visualizers exported on that tier carry a watermark.
  • CapCut supports editing existing footage, including performance clips, studio footage, sleeve close-ups and phone recordings. Canvas-oriented templates provide starting layouts, while editing tools allow users to trim footage, fit it to a vertical frame and create a loop. Some templates and editing features are free; certain effects or assets may require Pro. Availability depends on the template and export settings.
  • Rotor Videos edits uploaded clips or footage from its library to a track, producing music videos, artwork videos or Spotify Canvas files. Users can preview results before purchasing a download. A Canvas requires one credit, priced at US$9.99 when bought individually; a full music video requires three credits. Subscriptions are also available for artists producing visuals for multiple releases.
  • Videobolt offers a library of music visualizer templates and a Spotify Canvas maker. Users can add audio and artwork and customize designs for use across platforms. Free music visualizer previews are limited to 15 seconds. Longer exports without watermarks require a subscription.

Live visuals for screens and projectors

Halofloor generates visuals for live display through a browser console. A Chrome extension connects supported music sources, with output sent to a television, second screen or projector.

The company says its engine draws on track information, including tempo, energy and musical transitions, to generate visuals across 200 visual worlds.

  • The free tier has no time limit and includes selected visual worlds with HaloFloor branding.
  • Listed paid options include a US$6.99 48-hour pass and a Standard plan at US$8.99 per month.
  • Commercial venues fall under Pro. The service is in beta, with paid plans becoming available progressively.
  • The tool provides live visuals rather than downloadable Spotify Canvas files.

Spotify Canvas format requirements

Spotify Canvas uses a 9:16 visual loop lasting three to eight seconds. The loop repeats independently of the song rather than remaining synchronized throughout playback.

Spotify’s stated guidelines specify an MP4 or JPG between 720 and 1080 pixels tall. Finished Canvas assets can be added to tracks through Spotify for Artists.
