John Torra is the new lead singer of Quiet Riot. He said viral Instagram audition videos prompted a call from Regina Banali, and a subsequent performance with his band Fire ‘N Ice helped secure the role.
Speaking with Michael Brandvold and Blasko on The Music Biz Weekly Podcast, Torra said he received Banali’s call while riding in an Uber. He later performed “Metal Health” with Fire ‘N Ice at the Whiskey A Go-Go, where he said the performance impressed Banali and led to him joining Quiet Riot.
Torra also discussed growing up on Long Island, listening to Elvis Presley and Van Halen, and teaching himself to sing by studying vocalists including Joe Lynn Turner and Eric Martin. He said he has stepped down from Fire ‘N Ice to focus on Quiet Riot.
