The Chemical Brothers‘ 2005 single ‘Galvanize’ has a newly remastered 4K music video, restoring the original Adam Smith-directed visual in high definition.
Released as the lead single from the duo’s fifth studio album, Push the Button, ‘Galvanize’ peaked at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart and won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in 2006. The track pairs a verse from A Tribe Called Quest‘s Q-Tip with a string sample from Moroccan singer Najat Aatabou‘s ‘Hadi Kedba Bayna.’
Directed by Adam Smith and filmed in Málaga, Spain, the largely black-and-white video follows a group of teenagers in clown paint in a club dance battle before a police raid. The 4K version restores that original footage in high definition.
Last year, Chris Lake released a new remix of ‘Galvanize’ on Positiva Records to mark the single’s 20th anniversary, and a book, Paused In Cosmic Reflection, documented the duo’s career. The duo also performed during Carl Cox‘s summer residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza, while member Tom Rowlands released the double A-side single ‘We Are Nothing / All Night’ on Phantasy Sound.
