Reservoir Media has acquired rights to José Feliciano’s recorded music catalog, including “Feliz Navidad,” through a partnership with the artist. The agreement adds to the company’s Latin music holdings.
The New York City-based company and Feliciano, who was born in Lares, Puerto Rico, announced the partnership without disclosing its financial terms or ownership details.
A catalog spanning more than 60 albums
Feliciano, 81, has released more than 60 albums and is an inductee of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. He released “Feliz Navidad” on the Christmas album of the same name nearly six decades ago.
His work also includes:
- A rendition of “Light My Fire.”
- As You See Me Now, his 2017 collaboration with Jools Holland.
- “Let’s Find Each Other Tonight.”
- The 2022 album Love & Christmas.
“I’m excited to be in partnership with the talented Reservoir Team, ensuring the enjoyment of my music for generations to come,” Feliciano said.
Reservoir’s Latin music expansion
Reservoir founder and CEO Golnar Khosrowshahi described the acquisition as part of the company’s efforts to expand its Latin music portfolio.
“This year, our Reservoir team has focused concertedly on expanding our portfolio of Latin music, and bringing José’s music to Reservoir is an important continuation of those efforts,” said founder and CEO Golnar Khosrowshahi.
“His countless accolades showcase just how much impact his catalog has had on Latin and popular music, and we look forward to continuing to support such influential music,” she concluded.
Other deals involving Christmas music
In March, Primary Wave acquired a stake in Eartha Kitt’s catalog and name, image and likeness rights, including rights associated with the 1953 recording “Santa Baby.”
Last year, ICM Crescendo announced an agreement covering “certain publishing rights” to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
With Halloween still 10 days away, multiple performances of “Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time” are scheduled for next month.
