Fix the Tix Launches Fan Action Center to Combat Ticket Resale Fraud

Fix the Tix, a coalition advocating for ticketing reform, has partnered with Fan Alliance to launch the Fix the Tix Fan Action Center.

The Fan Action Center is a digital platform intended to assist fans in responding to misleading, fraudulent, or exploitative ticket resale activity.

Through the platform, fans can request refunds directly from ticket resale companies.

The hub also provides customizable messages for contacting consumer protection agencies and policymakers at the local, state, and federal levels.

Fans are able to share their experiences on social media to increase awareness and challenge potentially illegitimate resale websites.

The platform also offers guidance on identifying deceptive listings and purchasing tickets safely.

The launch follows the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) identifying 6,000 deceptive ticketing URLs and websites operating in the US.

These sites are designed to appear as official sources for artists, venues, festivals, and tours, but redirect consumers to secondary ticket resale markets.

NIVA sent a letter to state Attorneys General requesting investigations into potential violations of consumer protection and deceptive trade practices laws.

The association also called on StubHub, TicketNetwork, Viagogo, Concerts50, TicketSqueeze and BigStub to suspend affiliate accounts and programs linked to deceptive resale sites until sufficient safeguards are implemented.

Stephen Parker, Executive Director of NIVA and Chair of Fix the Tix, stated: “Fans shouldn’t have to navigate a system stacked against them just to see live music. Our discovery of 6,000 deceptive ticketing websites and URLs offers a troubling window into the scale of consumer deception occurring across the ticket resale marketplace. The Fan Action Center gives fans the tools they need to take action when they confront issues like these, whether that’s pursuing a refund, reporting fraud, contacting consumer protection enforcement, policymakers, or sharing their experience, while helping build momentum for meaningful reform.”
