Spotify today introduced Reserved, a new ticket reservation feature for its Spotify Premium subscribers in the United States. The tool identifies a tour’s most engaged listeners and holds two tickets for them before general on-sale dates, launching in partnership with Live Nation and powered by Ticketmaster.
How Reserved Works
Reserved uses listening data such as streams, saves, and shares, along with location information, to determine which fans are most likely to attend a show. Spotify does not disclose the full methodology to discourage artificial engagement, but states the system is designed to reward genuine fan activity.
Eligible users, who must be Spotify Premium subscribers aged 18 or older, will see a Reserved offer appear on their Home screen. Notifications are also sent via email, push, and the “Your Updates” feed. To avoid missing an offer, users should enable live event notifications, keep the app updated, and set their location in the Live Events Feed.
Finding and Claiming an Offer
Reserved offers can be accessed in several places within the Spotify app:

- Artist profile page
- Search
When a Reserved window opens, tapping “Buy now” allows the user to choose up to two tickets for any eligible date on the tour. The window typically lasts about a day, and the two-ticket hold remains throughout that period. Spotify advises purchasing early to secure preferred dates, locations, and seats, as specific availability varies by show.
Checkout and Queue Process
After selecting tickets, the user is directed to Ticketmaster to complete the purchase. Connecting a Spotify account to Ticketmaster in advance can speed up checkout. For high-demand shows, a queue may appear before ticket selection, but two tickets for the tour are held for the entire on-sale window. If preferred seats sell out while in the queue, other tickets remain available.
Unclaimed Reserved tickets are offered to the next most dedicated eligible fans, who are notified in the same manner, while supplies last.
Availability
Reserved is available for select artists and tours to Spotify Premium subscribers in the U.S. who are 18 and older. Window lengths, ticket availability, and eligible dates vary by campaign.
