South African singer Tyla has released her new single “Is It Love,” the third preview from her forthcoming second studio album A*POP. The track lands during a year marked by major award wins and high-profile global appearances.

Single and Video

The dance-driven song fuses pop, Afrobeats and R&B, with lyrics centred on love, vulnerability and emotional connection. Its music video, directed by Aerin Moreno, is set inside an apartment where Tyla’s choreography is disrupted by shattering glass and flooding, visual metaphors for a relationship in decline.

Album Campaign

“Is It Love” follows earlier singles “She Did It Again” (a collaboration with Zara Larsson) and “Chanel.” Tyla first hinted at the album in the “Chanel” video and has been revealing details in interviews. In a recent interview, she said of the creative process:

“I just knew that as I lived through the making of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel like I just did something really fresh and so… Tyla.”

A*POP is expected later this year.

Awards and Fashion

Earlier this year, Tyla won her second Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for “Push 2 Start.” She also received two American Music Awards: Best Afrobeats Artist and Social Song of the Year for “Chanel.” She is nominated for Video of the Year and Viewers’ Choice at the 2026 BET Awards, both for “Chanel.” Beyond music, she made an appearance at this year’s Met Gala.

Upcoming Performances and World Cup Role

Tyla is scheduled to perform at several international festivals:

  • Mawazine Festival (Morocco)
  • Afro Nation Portugal
  • Beach, Please!
  • Montreux Jazz Festival
  • Hellawatt Festival

This month, she sang South Africa’s national anthem at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening festivities in Mexico City and appeared alongside Future on the official World Cup song “Game Time” during celebrations in Los Angeles.
