South African singer Tyla has released ‘Is It Love’, the third single from her forthcoming second album A*POP.
The track fuses dance-driven production with introspective lyrics, drawing on pop, Afrobeats and R&B. It explores themes of love, vulnerability and emotional connection.
Directed by Aerin Moreno, the music video depicts a relationship in decline. Shot largely inside an apartment, it follows Tyla through choreographed sequences as the set gradually fractures, with shattered glass and rising water underscoring the emotional collapse.
Tyla teased the single on Instagram and TikTok, where preview clips drew substantial engagement ahead of the official drop.
A*POP rollout and creative direction
‘Is It Love’ arrives after ‘She Did It Again’, a collaboration with Zara Larsson, and ‘Chanel’, both part of the A*POP campaign. Hints of the album first surfaced in the ‘Chanel’ video, and Tyla has continued to reveal details through interviews and public appearances.
Speaking about the project earlier this year, she described the organic nature of its creation:
“I just knew that as I lived through the making of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel like I just did something really fresh and so… Tyla.”
Awards and global stage
The release caps a period of heightened visibility for the artist. Earlier this year, Tyla won her second Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for ‘Push 2 Start’. She also collected two American Music Awards: Best Afrobeats Artist and Social Song of the Year for ‘Chanel’.
She is nominated in the Video of the Year and Viewers’ Choice categories at the 2026 BET Awards, both for ‘Chanel’. Beyond music, her appearance at this year’s Met Gala drew international attention.
Tyla’s upcoming live schedule includes:
- Mawazine Festival (Morocco)
- Afro Nation Portugal
- Beach, Please!
- Montreux Jazz Festival
- Hellawatt Festival
Earlier this month, she took part in FIFA World Cup 2026 activities, performing South Africa’s national anthem during opening festivities in Mexico City and joining Future on the official tournament song ‘Game Time’ at celebrations in Los Angeles.
A*POP is expected to be released later this year.
