Global artist development company Believe has formed a strategic partnership with Australian independent label and marketing services firm Mandatory Music, granting the label access to a full suite of international distribution and artist services.
Under the agreement, Believe will provide:
- global distribution
- worldwide digital service provider (DSP) pitching
- marketing
- sync licensing
- neighboring rights
The partnership is designed to elevate Mandatory Music’s roster to international audiences while preserving the label’s independent ethos, according to a statement from the companies.
Founded in 2021 by Joe Landini and Will Tinkler, Mandatory Music has worked with more than 300 artists over the past 18 months, including DON WEST, The Slims, and Pretty Bleak. Tinkler previously served on the digital team at Sony Music before moving to Believe Digital.
In a joint statement, Landini and Tinkler said: “We’ve spent the last few years building a better pathway for emerging artists, one that uses data to identify real audience demand and create opportunities for artists who may otherwise have been overlooked by the industry. Partnering with Believe allows us to take that mission to the next level, combining our international, data-driven approach to artist development with Believe’s global reach, DSP relationships and deep expertise across independent music. Together, we’re giving the artists we work with a clearer path to building competitive, sustainable, international careers while staying independent.”
