Ariana Grande has initiated legal action against a group of anonymous hackers accused of stealing and distributing unreleased recordings and behind-the-scenes video footage. The complaint alleges the individuals have targeted the artist since the beginning of her career in 2011.
The complaint, filed against unnamed John Doe defendants, states that the hackers infiltrated the digital accounts of producers, photographers, and other collaborators to obtain sensitive files. Those files were then sold for “significant sums of money,” according to the legal filing.
In 2023, the group leaked 45 of Grande’s unreleased songs. The suit seeks to compel disclosure of the perpetrators’ identities. “The suit aims to uncover the identities of these currently unknown and unscrupulous individuals in order to hold them accountable for their invasive and reprehensible conduct,” the filing states.
“It is imperative to Ms. Grande, on behalf of herself and others, that such conduct is deterred to the fullest extent possible.”
