Artist Growth founder and CEO Matt Urmy says independent music teams need a clearer view of their operations and data as they manage work often handled by larger organizations. The company’s platform brings project and event management tools together with schedules, touring, ticketing, analytics and communication.
Artist Growth serves companies including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Red Light Management and Roc Nation. Urmy said the platform also aims to help smaller labels and managers work across artist, streaming, social, touring, commerce and operational data without relying on separate dashboards, spreadsheets and email threads.
The company is a supporter of WIN, an international network for the independent music sector. WIN’s Supporters program gives businesses a way to support its work and engage with independent music entrepreneurs alongside the membership schemes run by WIN members.
Urmy said that relationship gives Artist Growth a chance to hear from independent labels around the world and shape its tools around their workflows. He argued that connecting existing systems could help teams get useful answers from their data more quickly, including by asking questions instead of searching through reports.
Artist Growth’s team includes people who have toured as independent artists. Urmy said that experience, and his work with independent companies, has reinforced the need for software features that save time, reveal useful information or support decisions for artists.
