Spotify could face liability of roughly $619 million (about €538 million) if The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) prevails outright in its lawsuit over audiobook bundles. The figure appears in Spotify’s Q3 2026 financial statements.

The dispute concerns Spotify’s decision to bundle music subscriptions with audiobook access. Spotify argues that certain subscription tiers therefore qualify for lower mechanical royalty rates, a classification the MLC is challenging.
