Chaos AI has announced £1 million ($1.4 million) in pre-seed funding to develop its music collaboration platform and support expansion in the UK and US before its October 29 public launch.

Bridford Group led the round, with participation from music distribution company Amuse and a group of music-industry investors.

Collaboration tools and contribution records

The app brings messaging, file sharing, feedback and lossless live writing rooms into a single workspace for music creators.

A custom provenance layer fingerprints individual contributions and retains a record of the creative process. The system is intended to give creators visibility into their work and control over it.

Chaos plans to use the investment to expand the platform, develop more advanced collaboration features and grow its ecosystem. Planned improvements include tools to:

  • Organise information.
  • Understand projects.
  • Automate repetitive tasks.

The company says music creation itself will remain under human control.

Launch plans and team

Founded 18 months ago, Chaos has a waiting list of more than 15,000 creators. Music remains its main focus, although the platform is being rebuilt to support other forms of collaboration ahead of its wider launch.

The company recently opened a London office with an in-house recording studio for artists and producers.

Its six-person team works across London and New York. Every team member is a musician or producer, drawing on that experience while developing the platform.

Founder points to fragmented software

Founder Ruhan Verma said he began producing music at 13 and has worked with artists and producers. He said disconnected tools cause creative work to be lost and described existing creator software as outdated.

Verma said Chaos aims to improve the tools available to creators and replace fragmented music software. He also thanked the investors and industry figures supporting the company.
