Deezer has announced a filter that will let listeners exclude fully AI-generated music, with a global launch planned before the end of 2026. Human-created music and AI-assisted audio will remain available.

The company has not clarified how it will distinguish AI-assisted recordings from fully generated tracks.

Filtering follows tagging and removals

Deezer was the first DSP (digital service provider) to label AI uploads. It subsequently monitored their growth and, at the start of 2026, identified the vast majority of streams involving those tracks as fraudulent.

The service later removed some tracks and stopped monetizing others. Tidal ended monetization of AI-generated output altogether in late June.

At one point, Deezer estimated that nearly 100,000 AI tracks were arriving on digital service providers each day.

Lanternier said the filter responds to listener requests: “We’ve seen a clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music”.

The executive also said Deezer aims to give users greater control over listening while limiting negative effects on artists, songwriters and music fans.

Licensing and distribution measures

Suno is preparing artist-specific models under its agreement with Warner Music. Although Suno has download limits, Suno Studio has no download limit.

Other measures addressing AI music include the Streaming Integrity Initiative (SII) and a crackdown by DistroKid prompted by litigation.

Detection funding and upload removals

Voice intelligence startup Modulate raised $25 million late last month. The company says its AI music detector achieves 95% accuracy across multiple genres.

Earlier in October, Sony Music moved to remove more than 250,000 infringing AI uploads from digital service providers.
