ElGrandeToto has released an expanded version of his fourth studio album, SALGOAT Vol. 2 (Extension), following the original’s top 10 global debut on Spotify. The new edition adds collaborations with French rapper GIMS, Spanish singer Lola Indigo, Canadian singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin, and French pianist Sofiane Pamart.
From Rap Roots to Melodic Expansion
The original SALGOAT Vol. 2 marked a return to the artist’s early rap style. According to release materials, the extended edition takes a broader musical direction by incorporating more melodic elements aimed at reaching international audiences.
Lead Single and Visuals
The first single from the expanded album, Mon Pays, explores themes of identity, migration, and connection to Morocco. Its music video depicts the rapper in everyday settings, balancing family and work while contrasting his current lifestyle with his Moroccan roots.
Market-Specific Focus Tracks
The release includes regionally targeted focus tracks. Ninja, featuring GIMS, serves as the global focus track. Paradis with Charlotte Cardin is promoted in Canada, while Consuela with Lola Indigo is pushed in Spain.
Streaming Milestones
The original SALGOAT Vol. 2 generated more than 14 million streams in its first week, with all 17 tracks entering Spotify’s Top Songs Morocco chart. SAMEDI reached the top position, and tracks including DOLORES and ROCHE MAN performed strongly on regional playlists.
The first SALGOAT album has accumulated over 410 million streams, and ElGrandeToto’s catalogue has surpassed two billion streams globally. He has remained Spotify’s most-streamed artist in Morocco and the Middle East and North Africa region for five consecutive years.
Background
Born Taha Fahssi in Casablanca, ElGrandeToto broke out with singles such as 7elmet Ado and Pablo. His 2021 album Caméléon became the first Arabic-language album to debut in Spotify’s global Top 6 album debuts chart. He later earned a Diamond certification in France for his appearance on CKay’s Love Nwantiti (Remix) and headlined Morocco’s Mawazine Festival.
