Meels will perform at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time on October 28, fulfilling a longstanding ambition for the singer-songwriter signed to Lost Highway Records.
Jeff Hanna, co-founder, lead singer and guitarist of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, told Meels about the booking during a session together at Nashville’s Sound Emporium.
A first appearance in the Circle
“Stepping into the Circle means stepping into a legacy that has inspired me for as long as I can remember,” says Meels. “So many of the artists who shaped my love of music have stood on that piece of wood, and to have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps is incredibly surreal. Getting to make my Opry debut is a dream come true and an honor I’ll never forget.”
Earlier this year, Meels opened for Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on All The Good Times: The Farewell Tour. She is currently touring with Old Crow Medicine Show.
Her debut will place her among performers who have appeared in the Opry’s circle, including Luke Combs, Lady A and Kelsea Ballerini.
