Merlin has appointed Dan Nevin as Vice President of Industry Relations, tasking him with deepening the organization’s ties with independent trade bodies and accelerating membership growth in emerging markets.
Nevin will lead Merlin’s global engagement with independent trade associations and strategic partners. He will collaborate with the Global Membership Development team to expand and diversify the membership base, with a particular focus on Asia, Africa, Oceania, and other developing music territories.
His remit includes driving targeted acquisition and engagement strategies, and developing initiatives that help emerging independent businesses build the capabilities required to participate in Merlin’s licensing network. He reports to Charlie Lexton, Merlin’s CEO.
Nevin brings two decades of independent sector experience. He previously served as CEO of the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR). After moving to London in 2016, he worked as a consultant and advisor to music companies, labels, and distributors before joining Merlin.
“I’ve been connected to Merlin since its early days and have long admired and respected what the organization has done and continues to do in delivering value for its members and the independent sector. I’m excited to take on this new role and work closely with our members, industry partners and colleagues across Merlin to strengthen connections, support the continued growth of independent businesses around the world and develop initiatives that create meaningful value for both today’s members and the next generation of independent rightsholders.”
