Mnqobi Yazo has released a new single, ‘Inhlanhla’, a track he describes as an expression of gratitude and new beginnings. The South African musician, actor and producer follows his July collaboration ‘Nkanyezi’ and the January 2024 album UBHOKO with a song that connects traditional Zulu influences to contemporary production.

Yazo states that his creative purpose has centred on keeping traditional heritage present in music that can reach wider audiences.
“My goal has always been to root my music in our traditional heritage while creating something timeless that resonates everywhere,” he says.
On ‘Inhlanhla’, that approach appears through a polished modern arrangement built around themes of gratitude, faith and new beginnings.
Hailing from KwaZulu-Natal, Yazo has built a sound that combines traditional Zulu influences with Isicathamiya, Maskandi and Afro-Jazz, alongside elements of modern popular music. The Zulu word ‘Inhlanhla’ translates as “luck” or “blessing”, a meaning that aligns with the song’s focus on appreciation for the journey rather than achievement alone.
Live growth and catalogue milestones
The single lands as Yazo’s live profile has expanded across South Africa over the past two years, moving beyond radio and streaming into major venues. His catalogue includes several commercial markers:
- His 2018 debut EP Iscephu reached platinum status.
- The Ubhoko Tour took his live show across South Africa.
- Performances included Johannesburg’s Gold Reef City Lyric Theatre in 2025 and The Playhouse Company in Durban in 2026.
