Omah Lay’s debut EP “Get Layd” has surpassed 250 million streams on Spotify, becoming his third project to cross that threshold on the platform.
The five-track release, which arrived in 2020, is often cited for introducing a more introspective and melancholic tone to mainstream Afrobeats, a style fans later termed “Afro-emo.” Its confessional songwriting and stripped-back production stood in contrast to the uptempo party records that dominated the genre at the time.
Six years after its release, the EP continues to accumulate streams, reflecting sustained listenership.
