Skrillex closed Boomtown’s Hydro XL stage on Sunday night with a headline set that included a surprise appearance from Chase & Status and an unreleased track the three artists performed together.
The US DJ headlined the festival’s Hydro XL stage on 16 August, drawing on his recent SOMA LP and earlier material. Near the end of the performance, Chase & Status appeared alongside him for an unreleased track that fans have speculated may be a new collaboration between the artists. Online listeners noted Brazilian vocals on the song, but neither Skrillex nor Chase & Status has shared official details. Flowdan also made an unannounced appearance during the set.
Earlier in the performance, the set was paused for around 20 minutes because of crowd control issues. Skrillex used the break to ask fans to look after each other.
Skrillex recently gave his first interview in a decade, discussing the role of AI in music and the importance of keeping humans central to music creation. Last week he released Mirage, a collaboration with UK garage (UKG) artist MPH.
