Music and film background
Before his roles in the Fast & Furious and Transformers franchises, Gibson built a catalog as an R&B vocalist. His platinum-selling debut introduced his voice to a global audience, and later projects included 2000 Watts, I Wanna Go There and Black Rose.
He also recorded with the R&B group TGT, alongside Ginuwine and Tank. His R&B recordings have centered on relationships, love, heartbreak and personal experience, and he has worked as an author and producer.
South Africa appearance
Gibson has previously said he wanted to visit South Africa. His public comments in discussions involving South African singer Tyla and identity debates have also drawn attention from local audiences.
The August 23 performance at Ndlala Arena gives South African fans a chance to hear his catalog live, including material from a career spanning more than two decades. The lineup includes South African artists Zonke Dikana and Vusi Nova alongside international acts.
