Splice has appointed Kate Guarente-Smith Head of Communications, giving her responsibility for communications strategy across the music creation platform and its strategic partnerships with artists and industry companies.
Her remit covers the following parts of Splice’s platform:
- Sounds
- INSTRUMENT
- Spitfire Audio
- Kits AI
Guarente-Smith joins from the software industry, where she helped establish communications functions and held early leadership positions at GitHub and Slack.
At GitHub, she served as head of public relations. At Slack, she built and led communications for products, the platform and partnerships.
Splice chief executive Kakul Srivastava, who previously worked with Guarente-Smith at GitHub, cited that experience in explaining the appointment.
Srivastava said communicating with musicians was critical as Splice develops its use of AI (artificial intelligence) to support human creativity.
Guarente-Smith said her interest in Splice reflected her preference for companies that use technology to support creative work. She described music as both personal and culturally shared, and emphasised keeping artists central when introducing technology.
