Sureel AI, a Warner Music Group-owned company that tracks how compositions, recordings, and lyrics are used in generative AI, has partnered with independent distributor Symphonic Distribution to open AI-driven licensing revenue streams for its roster.

Under the agreement, Symphonic artists can opt in to have their works included in licensed AI datasets. Sureel’s technology will trace exactly how each piece of content is applied, and compensation will be based on the nature of that usage. The companies described the revenue model as operating on “transparent terms,” though no further financial details were provided.

Symphonic stated it will honor any permissions or restrictions that creators place on their works.

Dr. Tamay Aykut, CEO and Founder of Sureel AI, said: “Symphonic and Jorge have consistently been at the forefront of innovation, embracing new technologies while keeping artists at the center. This partnership reflects their commitment to bringing responsible AI, greater transparency, and new opportunities to the independent artists, labels, and creators they serve.”

Jorge Brea, CEO of Symphonic, added: “AI represents real opportunity for artists, but only if we use it correctly. By giving our artists the chance to opt in to Sureel’s fully licensed AI datasets, we are pushing back against unpaid training and opening new revenue opportunities for those who wish to participate.”
