Of the videos removed in Kenya, 96.3% were taken down within 24 hours of being posted. The platform also removed 48,739 accounts suspected of belonging to users under the age of 13, which breaches its rules.
Global Content Removals
Worldwide, TikTok removed 184,012,576 videos during the quarter, representing approximately 0.5% of all content uploaded. Automated detection technologies accounted for 178,014,154 of those removals, while 8,838,710 videos were later reinstated after further review. The global proactive removal rate stood at 99.3%, with 94.4% of flagged content removed within 24 hours.
LIVE Moderation
In Kenya, the platform interrupted 103,847 LIVE rooms for guideline violations. Globally, TikTok took enforcement action against 58,207,319 LIVE sessions and 21,996,667 LIVE creators for breaches of its LIVE monetisation guidelines, issuing actions that included warnings and demonetisation.
AI-Generated Content
TikTok removed 14,261 videos globally under its policies covering edited media and AI-generated content. The platform requires users to label realistic AI-generated material and uses both creator labelling tools and automated detection systems. It also employs Content Credentials technology developed by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), which has contributed to the labelling of more than 3 billion videos to date. TikTok recently joined the C2PA Steering Committee to support wider adoption of content provenance and AI transparency standards.
