Tixel and Opendate have established a partnership to provide verified ticket resale options for independent venues across the United States.

Tixel, Opendate Partner on Verified Ticket Resale for US Independent Venues

Tixel, a fan-to-fan ticket exchange platform originating in Australia, has partnered with Opendate, a software platform for independent venues, to establish a verified resale channel for US venues.

This collaboration represents a further expansion for Tixel into North America, following its initial entry into the American market in the previous year. The company was founded in Australia nine years ago.

The integration provides Opendate’s clients with access to Tixel’s resale marketplace and a dynamic waitlist feature.

Event information is automatically transferred from Opendate to Tixel, and resale transaction data is returned to Opendate for reporting and analysis of audience demographics.

Ticket purchasers receive links within their order confirmation emails, enabling them to resell tickets through Tixel if they are unable to attend an event.

Tickets resold via Tixel are verified using Opendate’s system. Upon purchase, the original ticket is cancelled and a new ticket with a unique barcode is issued to the buyer, carrying the same guarantee as a ticket purchased directly from the box office.

Tixel’s system prevents speculative ticket listings and limits resale prices to the original purchase price.

The initiative is intended to decrease the circulation of counterfeit tickets, reduce the number of no-show attendees, and enhance the overall experience for ticket buyers.

Venues will have increased insight into resale activity and data related to secondary market purchasers.

Jason Webb, Co-Founder and Head of the US Region for Tixel, stated: “Independent venues don’t just sell tickets, they build communities. When a fan overpays on a secondary platform, or shows up at the door with a counterfeit, it’s the venue’s reputation taking the hit. Opendate gives operators more control over how their shows run, and this integration extends that to resale. Now the fan relationship and the data stay with the people who created the demand in the first place.”
