Producer, DJ and music entrepreneur Oskido will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 32nd edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMA32). The ceremony is set for 15 August 2026 at the Sun City Superbowl in the North West province.
Oskido’s career spans several decades, during which he has been a central figure in shaping South Africa’s dance music landscape as a producer, DJ, record executive and entrepreneur. The Lifetime Achievement Award places him among a select group of artists whose work has left a lasting mark on the country’s music industry. He previously received the RiSA (Recording Industry of South Africa) Chairperson’s Award at SAMA30 for his contributions as an executive, producer and cultural pioneer.
Unati Gwija, spokesperson for the SAMAs, described the honour as a recognition of artists and industry figures whose influence extends across generations. “The Lifetime Achievement Award is more than a recognition of longevity; it is a celebration of those whose artistry has shaped the soundtrack of our nation, inspired generations and paved the way for the next wave of South African talent,” Gwija said. She added that the award underscores the importance of acknowledging influential figures during their lifetimes.

The 2026 awards are supported by a coalition of public and private sector organisations, including the Motsepe Foundation, the North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism, SA Tourism, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), the South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA), the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), the Composers, Authors and Publishers Association (CAPASSO), RiSA and RiSA Audio Visual.

Organisers expect the event to drive tourism and economic activity in the North West province by attracting music fans, industry professionals and media. “By bringing together iconic artists, emerging talent, industry leaders and thousands of music lovers from across the country and beyond, the festival stimulates tourism, boosts local economic activity and creates meaningful opportunities for small businesses, creatives, entrepreneurs and the hospitality sector,” Gwija said. “It also invites visitors to experience the North West’s world-class attractions, rich cultural heritage and renowned hospitality, ensuring that the economic and social benefits of SAMA32 extend well beyond the awards stage.”
