Wizkid will return to Lagos this December to headline the opening night of the newly expanded Detty December Fest 2026. The Grammy-winning Afrobeats star is the first confirmed headliner for the two-week celebration of music, culture, fashion and entertainment, which runs from December 18 through December 30.
Expanded Festival Format
The 2026 edition introduces a major format change with the addition of a second stage. Wizkid will perform on the main Festival Stage, while the new Pulse Stage will showcase emerging artists and fresh sounds shaping the next generation of African music.
Darey Art Alade, co-founder and chief creative officer of production company Livespot360, said the dual-stage setup reflects the growing global reach of African music. “The new stage creates more opportunities for younger artists,” Alade said. “It allows emerging performers to share the festival with established stars and contribute to the continued growth of Africa’s music ecosystem.”
Tickets are available now through official festival channels, with additional headliners to be announced in the coming weeks.
Wizkid’s Recent Output
Wizkid’s headlining slot follows a relatively low-key period. In January he teamed up with Asake on the joint EP Real, Vol. 1, and he spent much of 2025 on the road supporting his 2024 album Morayo, which peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Subsequent collaborations include “Dynamite” with Tyla and “Gimme Dat” with Ayra Starr; the latter earned a nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
