Irish music festivals are seeking government intervention after ticketing platform Tickets.ie abruptly ceased trading, leaving several events facing significant financial shortfalls.
The platform’s parent company, Oshi Software, is taking steps to enter liquidation, according to a notice posted on the Tickets.ie website. The shutdown has cut off organizers’ access to ticket revenue collected on their behalf.
Country-music festival Cowboys and Heroes says it is owed €135,000 for tickets sold through the platform earlier this month. Organisers of the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival may face a €283,000 deficit.
Enterprise Minister Peter Burke said his department intends to “see exactly what we can do to support that,” referring to the festivals’ financial difficulties.
