New Album Release
Maskandi artist Maskandi artist Mphathiwohlelo MC has released a new 15-track album titled Ngathi Ngiyosebenza. This release represents his most recent work within the traditional Zulu music genre.
The album was released on May 29th through Africori and Mphathiwohlelo MC Entertainment. Production was handled by Mphathiwohlelo MC alongside Thabiso Shange.
Ngathi Ngiyosebenza is performed entirely in isiZulu and focuses on themes of work, perseverance, family responsibilities, love, and survival. The music blends traditional maskandi elements, such as guitar arrangements and narrative songwriting, with contemporary influences.
The project explores the experiences of people facing social and economic difficulties, emphasizing resilience and community.
Collaborations on the album include appearances by Siyanda and Shenge, Mjolisi and Siphokazi, Gugu Ndlovu, Solwazi, Mshana Kazwelonke, and Vivi.
Maskandi music, with deep roots in Zulu culture, has seen increased popularity in recent years, appealing to a wider audience while retaining its focus on storytelling and indigenous musical practices.
