South African singer-songwriter Umzulu Phaqa has released a new single, ‘Unlimited Budget’, the second preview of her upcoming debut album.
The track follows Thakatha Njalo, which first showcased her fusion of contemporary pop and isiZulu storytelling.
Described as a gospel-pop song, ‘Unlimited Budget’ addresses faith, resilience, and divine provision. Its central hook,
Owami uNkulunkulu une Unlimited Budget
(My God has an unlimited budget), uses the metaphor of limitless resources to convey God’s capacity to surpass human constraints.
Accompanying materials clarify that the song is a declaration of spiritual confidence, not a comment on material wealth, and it explores themes of abundance, grace, and favour.
The single is part of Umzulu Phaqa, Volume 1, a project the artist says draws inspiration from South African icons Brenda Fassie and Lebo Mathosa, as well as elements of international pop akin to Sabrina Carpenter.
Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, Umzulu Phaqa has crafted an identity that merges contemporary styles with isiZulu narratives and cultural motifs.
Ahead of the album’s release later this year, the artist is scheduled to perform at several 2026 events, including the Basha Uhuru Festival, For You & Everybody, and Rose Fest.
‘Unlimited Budget’ is now available on digital streaming platforms.
