Grammy Award winner Zakes Bantwini has debuted on the UK deep house label Anjunadeep with the two-track release ‘Impatient/You Never Know’, a project that spotlights a range of South African artists.
The first track, ‘Impatient’, pairs Bantwini with fellow South African producer Sun-El Musician and features vocals from emerging artist kisskisskiss. The second, ‘You Never Know’, introduces South African-born, London-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jordan Arts.
Bantwini has been a presence in South Africa’s electronic and Afro house scenes for more than 20 years. He won the Grammy for Best Global Music Performance in 2023 as part of the collaboration ‘Bayethe’ with Nomcebo Zikode and Wouter Kellerman. His catalogue also includes ‘Osama’, a track with Kasango that has accumulated over 60 million streams and held the No. 1 spot on South African radio for 14 consecutive weeks.
Sun-El Musician, who previously worked with Bantwini, is known for the hit ‘Akanamali’ and multiple multi-platinum certifications from RiSA (Recording Industry of South Africa). He recently headlined the Red Bull Symphonic South Africa performance at Johannesburg’s Montecasino Outdoor Events Area. Jordan Arts has earned support from international electronic acts such as David Guetta, Paul van Dyk and Lane 8, and has appeared at festivals including Ultra South Africa and Durban’s Anywhere In Your City.
In 2026, Bantwini has expanded his activities with the launch of the Zakes Bantwini Foundation and live performances in New York, Bali and South Africa under his Mayonie Productions brand.
The Anjunadeep release marks Bantwini’s continued push into global electronic music, bringing together established and emerging South African talent.
