Zakes Bantwini has released a new version of Johnny Clegg’s “The Crossing (Osiyeza)” as part of the Scatterlings project, which reinterprets Clegg’s catalogue. The track features Jesse Clegg, Msaki, Skye Wanda, and the late Johnny Clegg’s original recorded vocal.
The production applies an Afro-electronic and Afro House framework to the original song, which addresses themes of passage, remembrance, and hope. Jesse Clegg, Msaki, and Skye Wanda contribute additional vocal performances alongside the archival voice of Johnny Clegg.
