Los Angeles DJ and producer Bae Bae has released her debut EP for UK label Planet Mu, titled ‘Gauze’. The first single, ‘Still Believe’, is available now.

The EP is described in press materials as “a call to fight globally to bring an end to the occupation of Palestine.” Its title references the fabric gauze, which is said to have originated in Gaza. The project incorporates real-world recordings from the region, including a call to prayer captured in a bombed-out mosque, documentary audio from a hospital, and the voice of Palestinian writer and activist Ghassan Kanafani, who was later assassinated.

Musically, the release is built around percussion and draws on garage, footwork and jungle influences.

A portion of the EP’s proceeds will be donated to the Sameer Project, a Palestinian diaspora-led charity that provides food, water and essential aid to families displaced by the crisis in Gaza.

Last year, Planet Mu marked its 30th anniversary with the compilation ‘Planet Mu 30’ and a party at London’s Corsica Studios.
