Alison Wonderland took on the role of stadium captain for Australia’s FIFA World Cup group-stage match against Paraguay, carrying the official match ball onto the pitch at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Friday 26th June. The Australian DJ and producer later described the experience as one of the most significant of her life.
Both teams advanced to the knockout rounds. Australia is scheduled to face Egypt on Friday 3rd July.
Wonderland shared images of the moment on Instagram, writing:
One of the top moments of my LIFE. WALKING THE BALL OUT FOR THE AUS VS PARAGUAY FIFA WORLD CUP GAME. What an honour to do this for my country. GO THE ROOS!
The appearance came during a busy period for Wonderland, who is currently touring in support of her latest album, ‘GHOST WORLD’. She is also booked to perform at Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, and EDC Orlando in the months ahead.
Earlier that week, on Wednesday 24th June, Mochakk and Barry Can’t Swim performed a similar duty for the Brazil versus Scotland World Cup match, each representing their home nation.
